International Women’s Day 2024

March 8th is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the accomplishments of women, raise awareness about the issues that affect women the most, and call for positive change that advances women’s rights.

The theme for 2024 is ‘Invest in women: Accelerate progress’. Governments need to invest more money into empowering women and ensuring gender equality. According to the UN, increased financing should go towards addressing gender inequality, which is a key human rights issue, preventing more women and girls from living below the poverty line, and uplifting feminist change-makers, among other important causes.

Let us all take this important day to reflect on the progress we have made globally in advancing women’s rights, as well as the work yet to be done. Let us also take the time to celebrate the powerful women in our lives. Our world would not be the same without them.
